Neodymium Disc Magnet 10 x 5 mm N48 Diametrically Magnetised
A neodymium magnet (NdFeB) is small but very strong. It is made from a special alloy and magnetised in a strong magnetic field during manufacture. Neodymium is much stronger than ferrite, and its protective coating helps prevent corrosion. N48 indicates the magnetic grade; a higher number generally means a stronger magnet, with grades commonly ranging from N35 to N52. This type is diametrically magnetised, so its pole orientation differs from the usual arrangement. Orientation matters during installation.
At Ø10 × 5 mm, this magnet provides a good hold on metal and is useful at home, in workshops and for a variety of projects. The actual hold depends on the contact surface and the thickness of the metal. Holding force is greater on thick steel than on thin sheet metal.
Warning: keep out of reach of children. Magnets can snap together suddenly, pinch skin and chip or break on impact. Handle them carefully when bringing them together or separating them. Keep them away from bank cards, hard drives, sensitive electronics and medical devices.
