When using, installing or machining magnets, please observe the following:

1. Store magnets in a dry place at room temperature, in their safety packaging and out of unauthorised reach.

2. People with a PACEMAKER should avoid using or approaching magnets, magnetic devices and magnetic systems. If contact with or proximity to such devices is unavoidable, please consult your doctor to help prevent possible accidents.

3. Permanent magnets are not toys. Children may use them only under parental supervision. Magnets must not be used as toys. Take particular care to keep magnets out of children's reach. Swallowed magnets can cause severe internal injuries. Magnets are not recommended for children under 10 years of age.

4. The surface coatings of magnets may in some cases cause metal allergies or trigger allergic reactions in people who are sensitive to metallic materials.

5. Magnetic devices and individual magnets can exert attractive force even from a considerable distance. With large magnets, this increases the risk of injury and accidents.

6. Permanent magnets are hard, brittle materials. When they collide, many sharp small fragments may break off, increasing the risk of injury. Always wear suitable protective equipment (protective gloves, safety glasses, dust protection, etc.) when machining magnets.

7. Permanent magnets are surrounded by a magnetic field on all sides. This field may affect sensitive electronic and mechanical equipment and may influence measurement results.

8. Magnetic fields may adversely affect computers, monitors, disks, credit cards, other magnetically based data carriers and devices operating on magnetic principles (for example electricity meters, gas meters, water meters and transformers). Permanent magnets should therefore be kept at a suitable distance from such equipment.

Interfering with utility metering equipment is punishable by law. Do not place a magnet on a utility meter or other device operating on magnetic principles, even as a test, because it may cause permanent damage to its operation.

9. When magnets are transported by air, the applicable IATA regulations must be observed. Packaging must be designed so that the magnetic field is sufficiently contained and does not extend beyond the package above permitted limits.

10. Do not machine magnets in an explosive atmosphere. Do not inhale dust or small particles produced during machining.

11. For magnets that require surface protection, damage to the protective coating may lead to corrosion. Store magnets in a dry place.

12. Permanent magnets must not be placed in radioactive environments; according to the source safety guidance, rare-earth magnets can present an explosion hazard in radioactive environments.

13. Always observe the maximum operating temperature when machining or using magnets. Above their specified operating temperature, their magnetic properties may decrease.
