NdFeB (neodymium) magnets provide high magnetic attraction for their size, making them popular for technical and DIY applications. Compared with ferrite, neodymium provides much greater magnetic attraction. The magnet generally has a protective surface coating. N48 indicates the magnetic grade. NdFeB grades commonly range from N35 to N52, with higher numbers generally indicating stronger magnets. The cylindrical shape is practical: it fits readily into a hole or recess and provides good contact on flat metal surfaces.
 
This larger cylinder magnet suits demanding applications requiring stable attachment and workshop use. (Ø20×40 mm) Paint, film or gaps noticeably reduce magnetic attraction. The magnet performs best on a flat, clean surface.
