Neodymium Disc Magnet 7 x 7 mm N48
A neodymium magnet (NdFeB) is small but very strong. It is made from a special alloy and magnetised in a strong magnetic field during manufacture. It is noticeably stronger than conventional ferrite magnets and generally has a protective coating because the material is prone to corrosion. N48 indicates the magnetic grade; a higher number generally means a stronger magnet, with NdFeB grades commonly ranging from N35 to N52.
The Ø7 × 7 mm size is suitable for DIY projects, small holders, catches and temporary attachments to steel. For good results, use a clean metal surface that is as thick as possible. Any gap caused by thick paint or an uneven surface reduces holding force.
Warning: keep away from children. Strong attraction can cause pinching injuries, and the magnet can chip easily. Store magnets with spacers and avoid impacts. Keep them away from bank cards, sensitive electronics and medical devices.
